Ports Group honors Port of LA

The Port of Los Angeles earned 2010 American Association of Port Authorities awards in the areas of information technology, communications and environmental management.
The awards recognized Los Angeles in the information technology category
of its Enterprise Geographic Information System project, a $1.9 million
undertaking that integrates multiple platforms and consolidates
divisional efforts to overcome organizational challenges covering some
7,500 acres.The port also received the Dan Maynard communications award for overall
excellence. Los Angeles received honors for a dozen projects, and this
is the third time the port received the award in five years.Los Angeles and Long Beach jointly received an honorable mention in the
environmental management category for the Water Resources Action Plan, a
coordinated effort targeting remaining water and sediment sources in
